Overpriced and underwhelming
Because of the smaller size than the old version any slices come out curved. So slicing potoatos for potato bake or cucumber for salads, the slices are weird. The grater and slicers can’t get the last piece that you feed in. When grating cheese, chunkes are left inside the drum between the wall and the drums outer. The attachment isn’t dishwasher safe. The drum attachments aren’t one piece they have a plastic joiner that pushes the food your feeding in back up and causes the feed stick to bounce. Also because of this it ‘rubs’ the vegetable as it goes past. That causes each slice to be soft (cucumber for example )

Great results - a bit messy getting there
I love my KitchenAid mixer so any excuse to use it more often gets my vote. I have the spiraliser - works extremely well. Thought I would give the slicer / shredder a go. While I was happy with results (I shredded carrot and cabbage for a coleslaw), it seemed like a lot of effort and made a lot of mess (not as straightforward at spitting out the shredded vegies as the pictures indicate) for the outcome. I think it is easier to throw it all into my traditional food processor. I like how the blades go into the dishwasher - probably less chance of injury than my mandolin. Maybe it will get better with some more practice...

GOing to be my most used attachment
I've always coveted a KitchenAid mixer and the versatile attchments, and this year I was finally able to gift a lot to myself. This Prep Slicer and Shredder has quickly become one of the most used appliances in my kitchen. I have cut cheddar, paresan, cabbage, iceberg lettuce, carrot, potato and more in only a few weeks since receiving. My only negatives are that is stains very easily from carrots/beetroot/etc (and I have been shredding lots of carrot) and that there are 3 additional blades that need to be purchased separately.

Doesn’t work
I bought this product and the fine attachments as well. It is the worst product I have ever bought. Everything I try to grate or slice gets stuck. What comes out is mush. I only wish I could return both products and get my money back.

Doesn't work ...hopeless blunt
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought this item as an attachment to my Fantastic Stand Mixer, thinking it would save me time and add extra uses to my Mixer. As I am a huge consumer of vegetables grating features heavily in my meal preparation.
Well the blades are blunt as and my Zucchini just turns to mush , I had to use a knife to scrape out the slush that was my Zucchini. The carrots just turned around and around, even when I cut them into small pieces it was a painful appliance to use. I've soooo unhappy with my purchase and would very much like a refund. I've saved the box it came in so just tell me how to get the refund.

Not Ideal, would normally return
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought the Prep Slicer & Shredder attachment. The shredders work as hoped; we are happy with the outcome from a basic cheese. The slicer is the problem. It grated the skin off a lime before mangling it in the shaft. We assumed maybe it was too 'tough' (it was fresh and easily sliced with a knife), so we switched to something lighter. But it did the same to a basic cucumber. And we're not sure if the lime did it, but the internal blade has a warp/dent, so I'm sure that's causing all our issues now, so we can't use that part of the kit anymore. I'd return the whole lot if it weren't such a pain to do so.

Dont buy!
I've only had this a couple of months. I dropped the food pusher on the floor & it broke. I have looked everywhere & cannot find a replacement part with no luck. I saw a question about exactly the same part & they were told to contact KitchenAid. How about posting a link or phone number. A part this expensive should be made more sturdy. And if this item is still being manufactured, we should be able to purchase a replacement. I'm getting very disillusioned with kitchenaid. I e purchased their products for years. Now I'm finding it extremely difficult to find replacements. I'm having the same problem with my KitchenAid range.

A bit disappointing
Was so looking forward to using this but alas it is not as efficient as I had hope. The cutting blades are not as sharp as they could be and when cutting the food clogs up In between the blade and the unit instead of falling into the bowl. It is still usable for the small amounts I need but would not recommend if you are wanting to do a lot. So far I have tried onion, pepper, cabbage , carrot and cheese and every one clogs the machine.
