Beautiful Toaster
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This toaster is a thing of beauty. Stainless steel, smooth sleek lines, modern look....it's almost like art. Let's get to it's functionality. It works awesome. The are selections on the toaster that allow for almost every type of bread. White, fruit, grain, bagels and even waffles. As a bread maker I can say that I tried them all and they worked great. It has a timer on it and it has a button for frozen items. It even has a button you can use if it needs a little bit more time toasting your bread. The lever allows you to "peek" at the bread while toasting. I can with no doubt say this is my favorite toaster ever!

Retro look
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I was pleasantly impressed by the Breville Lux Toaster with its streamlined appearance and toasting functions. I especially liked the dial feature on the front of the toaster, giving it a retro look. The carry handles on the bottom sides of the toaster make it easy to transport.
You do have to play around with the toasting doneness until you achieve the desired color and doneness.
The stainless steel is extremely attractive and will enhance any kitchen decor, however, it does leave fingerprints.
I highly recommend the Breville Lux Toaster.

My husband and myself have been looking for a bread toaster for some time. When we saw the Breville toaster, although it was dearer than the others, we liked the colors, the shape, and the quality that was obvious to see. Of course we bought it and when we took out the box we could but not notice how heavy it was, this gave us the confidence about the quality inbuilt into the toaster. We like the different features included, like the lever to choose the type of bread, the light to show the progress of toasting and when is ready. The toaster makes the bread crisps and very enjoyable to eat. Yes we know we made the right choice, and we are looking forward to enjoying it for a long time to come.

Quality in every aspect
From the first moment you use this toaster you can sense the quality in the build in every aspect, the confident click as the bread is locked into its lowered position, the unfussy way your toast pops up…quietly, the easy handles for picking up the toaster and returning it to the cupboard, the slide of the crumb tray, the quiet dial for selecting browning levels, it all oozes quality which is the very hallmark of Sage. Toast may take a little longer than you may have been previously used to but but it will be more evenly browned without it being dried out.

All Show and No Go. It does not toast!!
We bought this in the last month to match the Kettle we also bought. It just doesn't toast!!
Using sourdough grain bread. Set the bread type to grain, set the toasting function to maximum - 6, we end up with hot bread with the faintest to no colour on it. We have to then put it back in and let it run to the 3 mark just to get partial colour toast but then it’s like eating a crisp bread it’s so dried out. Doesn’t matter how thick or thin it is.
We thought this toaster could replace our old toaster that has the occasional off day but it still toasts vastly better. Glad we didn’t throw it out because it will be coming out of the cupboard. Very, very disappointed in Breville.

My previous review was wrong
Further to my previous review – following which you offered to replace our toaster – I was WRONG! Your toaster is excellent but I need to explain….
My wife told me that the toaster was only cooking on one side, so I tried it and had the same problem, almost uncooked on one side, fully cooked one the other. However, I did notice that the settings were all on maximum and so adjusted the selector ring back a bit.
I make all our own sourdough bread (using a blend of flours and no added sugar) and it is relatively dense; toasting this bread takes significantly longer than shop bread that tends to be light and with added sugar (sugar also speeds up browning).
Anyway, after making the minor adjustment, the toaster appeared to be working well again, which seemed strange so I decided to check it over a few days.
At this point I realised that the toaster had been set for crumpets but as we very rarely if ever have crumpets, we had never given any thought to the setting – just thought it increased the heat available. However it occurred to me that it might be designed to cook one side more than the other, although I have never been aware of such a feature before.
So, I did what one only does in an emergency, I looked at the manual and, guess what, the “Crumpet” setting is indeed designed to provide asymmetrical cooking – applying more heat to one side than the other.
So it seems there is nothing wrong with our toaster and we now use the “crumpet” setting for hot crossed buns as the tops are often sugar glazed and burn easily.
So please accept my apologies for inadvertently maligning your excellent product.
However, how I am surprised that no one in the Customer Service department asked what setting we were using….? Someone should have suspected that a sudden loss of cooking on one side could have more than one explanation, particularly given the crumpet setting.
Breville should make this feature a selling point which would also help customers avoid making the same mistake. I wonder how many people are aware of this feature and how useful it can be, not only for crumpets but also toasting glazed buns, amongst other possibilities.
So thank you again for offering to replace our toaster but if you have the same complaint again, it might be an idea to ask what settings your customer is using….
So, would I recommend this toaster – YES most certainly, looks good and works very well – and actually does more than expected

Even toasting
Great toaster, browns bread evenly on both sides, which was our main requirement. The LED countdown and lift & look are such great features, don't know how we lived without them before. Only issue is it makes a small high pitched noise while toasting.
